Tree Tower Project

We started this project about a month ago for Cox Arboretum MetroPark, that will entice both children and adults.   The project we started is a seventy foot tall tree tower.  When the tower is completed, park visitors will be able to walk up to the top of the tower, and from the observation deck, be able to take in the beautiful views of the park and surrounding areas.  Below is a rendering of what the completed project will look like.

The construction begins with three, 22” diameter douglas fir trees that were delivered to us from Northern California.

We moved the logs into our shop and began the preparation work to start constructing the tower.

Three large dollies were built to hold the trees so we could work on them and move them freely about the shop.

After the trees were set on the dollies, we drew up a full size layout to help us during the building process.

Once the drawings were finished, we started attaching the steel collars that will be the structural mounting points for the stairway.

Please check back often as we continue to update you on the progress of this project.  Don’t miss it!
